Canadian Amateur Radio Access to 137 Khz.
2010-03-10 Industry Canada has approved access by Canadian radio amateurs to
the Low Frequency (LF) band 135.7 ? 137.8 kHz, subject to
certain conditions. The Revised Canadian Table of Frequency
Allocations, promulgated in December 2009 to incorporate changes
arising from decisions taken at World Radiocommunication Conference
(WRC) 2007, permits amateur use on a Secondary basis subject to
Footnote 5.67A. The Footnote states: “Stations in the amateur service using frequencies in the band 135.7-137.8 kHz shall not exceed a maximum radiated power of 1 W (EIRP) and shall not cause harmful
interference to stations of the radionavigation service operating
in countries listed in No. 5.67. (WRC-07)”. Industry Canada has advised that Canadian radio amateurs may now use the band and that Schedule I of RBR-4 Standards for the Operation of Stations in the Amateur Radio Service will be amended in due course.Richard Ferch VE3IAY/VE3KI

[html] To celebrate VE6QEN obtaining her HAM CALL following 30 years of being kidded (hassled) and hopelessly pressured to become a ham, we have preserved the milestone on video. Sarina completely surprised me by taking the course and passing with an impressive 88% (she now claims she was only after a specific CALL). Most of you will understand that I thought I was only dreaming, hi hi. Our son Dennis VE6KDR congratulated her and figured it was an occasion and great subject for some humor to preserve on video. He sent us a shot list of instructions and dialogue for us to shoot the video clips and I electronically sent them, including the bloopers, to him in Ontario. Dennis edited and professionally produced the DVD, it is a humorous eight minute video celebrating the reason Sarina got her ham license.Â

[html] It is with sadness that I need to announce VE6UC Don Osterland from Red Deer, became a silent key Sunday October 4th, 2009. Don suffered an acute stroke on September 15th. A Memorial gathering was held at 2:30 PM on Friday October 9th at the Usona Curling Rink.Â
On behalf of all the local hams we extend our sympathies to Norma and her family.
